Labelling of smooth muscle actin in concert with muscle specific actin staining can allow for differentiation between rhabdomyosarcoma and leiomyosarcoma; as Muscle specific actin is found in rhabdomyoblasts; while smooth muscle actin is found in leiomyosarcomas.
