- Source : Human 293 Cells;Glypican 1 is a member of the family of GPI-linked proteoglycans. GPC1 is expressed by neurons; smooth and skeletal muscle cells; keratinocytes; osteoblasts; Schwann cells; immature dendritic cells; and tumor; tumor-associated vascular endothelial cells. The function of GPC1 is complex and varied. GPC1 has been shown to interact with SLIT2. This protein plays a role in the misfolding of normal prion proteins in the cell membrane to the infectious prion form. As a proteoglycan; it appears to make use of its HS adduct to impact select growth factor activity.
