ST6GALNAC5 is a sialyltransferase that takes part in the synthesis of ganglioside GD1a. This protein is part of the protein glycosylation transduction; meaning; modification of proteins. ST6GALNAC5 is expressed strictly in the brain tissue; and is a crucial component in breast cancer cells metastasis to the brain tissue. It is thought to enable cancer cells to go through the blood-brain barrier.ST6GALNAC5 produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single; glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 316 amino acids (30-336a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 36.4kDa.ST6GALNAC5 is expressed with a 9 amino acid His tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
