EOGT catalyzes the transfer of a single N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-GlcNAc to a serine/ threonine residue in extracellular proteins resulting in their modification with a beta-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc). EOGT mainly glycosylates the Thr residue positioned between the fifth and sixth conserved cysteines of folded EGF-like domains.EOGT produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single; glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 516 amino acids (20-527 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 60.4kDa (Migrates at 50-70kDa on SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions).
