SKP Recombinant E.coli produced in E.Coli is a single; non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 162 amino acids (21-161 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 17.9 kDa. The SKP is fused to a 21 amino acid His-Tag at N-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. SKP is a 17kDa trimeric periplasmic chaperone that supports outer membrane proteins in their folding and insertion into membranes. SKP protein is necessary for the normal release of ompA from the inner membrane; the maintenance of its solubility in the periplasm; and; in association with lipopolysaccharide (LPS); for the efficient folding and insertion of ompA into the outer membrane.
