CRYBB1 Recombinant Human produced in E.Coli is a single; non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 260 amino acids (1-252 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 29.1 kDa. The CRYBB1 is fused to an 8 amino acid His-Tag at C-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Crystallins are the main structural proteins of the vertebrate eye lens; where they maintain the transparency and refractive index of the lens. Crystallins are divided into 3 fprotein families; alpha; Beta; & Gamma families. Because lens central fiber cells lose their nuclei during development; these crystallins are prepared and then retained throughout life; making them extremely stable proteins. CRYBB1 is a beta basic group member and undergoes extensive cleavage at its N-terminal extension during lens maturation.
