- Source : Escherichia Coli. OBFC1 Human Recombinant produced in E. coli is. a single polypeptide chain containing 391 amino acids (1-368) and having a molecular mass of 44.5kDa. OBFC1 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Oligonucleotide Binding Fold Containing 1 (OBFC1) is a part of the CST complex; a complex which binds to single-stranded DNA and is essential to defend telomeres from DNA degradation. The CST complex binds single-stranded DNA with high affinity in a sequence-independent way; whereas isolated subunits bind DNA with low affinity by themselves. The role of the CST complex is less specific in DNA metabolism at non-telomeric sites.
