- Source : E.coli. CYTH2 Human Recombinant produced in E. coli is a single polypeptide chain containing 422 amino acids (1-399) and having a molecular mass of 48.9 kDa. CYTH2 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Cytohesin 2 (CYTH2) is an ARF-1 guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF). ARF (ADP ribosylation factor) proteins are a part of a group within the RAS superfamily and bindes GTP-b proteins central to the process of vesicle budding. CYTH2 promotes guanine-nucleotide exchange on ARF1; ARF3 and ARF6. Furthermore; CYTH2 promotes the activation of ARF factors through replacement of GDP with GTP. The protein encoded by CYTH2 is a member of the PSCD family. Members of PSCD family appear to mediate the regulation of protein sorting and membrane trafficking. The cell membrane form; in association with ARL4 proteins; recruits ARF6 to the plasma membrane.
