IBSP is synthesized by platelets; odontoblasts; osteocytes; osteoblasts; osteoclasts; and bone marrow stromal cells. IBSP forms an integral part of the mineralized matrix and also plays a role as the main mediator of the hypertrophic chondrocytes-induced angiogenesis. IBSP which binds firmly to hydroxyapatite is related to the severity of histological cartilage lesions.IBSP produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single; glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 309 amino acids (17-317aa) and having a molecular mass of 34.5kDa (Migrates at 70-100kDa on SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions).
