PODXL is a highly glycosylated sialomucin; which is expressed in many types of tumors; as well as it is a well known marker of embryonic stem cells. Overexpression of PODXL is an independent predictor of cancer progression; metastasis; and poor outcome. PODXL promotes tumor growts and invasiveness; and is a potential target for antibody therapy. Specificity :The mouse monoclonal antibody PcMab-47 recognizes a glycosylation-dependent epitope (aa 207-210) on human PODXL; a highly glycosylated transmembrane glycoprotein expressed above all in many types of cancer tissues; and on embryonic stem cells.
