- Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6); like other histone deacetylases; affects gene expression by regulation of chromatin remodeling. HDAC6 contains an internal duplication of two catalytic domains which appear to function independently of each other. Besides histones; HDAC6 deacetylates also other substrates including alpha tubulin and HSP90 alpha; and is involved in protein trafficking and degradation; as well as in affecting of cell shape and migration. Deregulation of HDAC6 expression and activity is associated with many diseases.Specificity : The mouse monoclonal antibody 178 recognizes zinc finger domain of human histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6; an intracellular antigen). Crossreactivity with other species was not tested.
