It is non-reactive with N. mucosa; N. perflava; N. sicca; Gardnerella vaginalis; group B Streptococcus; Candida albicans; Haemophilus influenzae type B; Chlamydia trachomatis; Trichomonas vaginalis; Mycoplasma genitalium; Ureaplasma urealyticum & Herpes simplex virus type 2. Antigen: Neisseria Background: Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a gram-negative bacterium that primarily infects the mucous membranes of the urogenital tract; rectum; and pharynx. The bacterium is an obligate human pathogen that is transmitted through unprotected sexual contact with an infected person; including vaginal; anal; or oral sex. The bacterium has developed resistance to several frontline antibiotic treatments which makes the treatment of gonorrhea a challenge.
