- H-2Kd and H-2Dd are classical MHC class I alloantigens encoded within the murine major histocompatibility complex (H-2 system). These transmembrane glycoproteins function as critical components of the adaptive immune system by mediating antigen presentation to cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) through interactions with the CD3/T-cell receptor (TCR) complex and the CD8 co-receptor. Structurally, these MHC I molecules consist of a polymorphic heavy A Alpha-chain non-covalently associated with the invariant light chain B Beta2-microglobulin (B Beta2m), forming a peptide-binding groove that accommodates 8-10 amino acid antigenic peptides derived from endogenous protein degradation via the proteasomal pathway.
