Zambia Western Province Safe Water Project

Less than 50% of the rural Zambian population has access to safe water.

This project supports the construction of borehole handpumps that allow communities reliable access to clean water, minimising the impact of waterborne diseases in this province.

UpEnergy Improved Cookstoves Programme, Unganda

UpEnergy's stoves replace the traditional three-stone fires used by many Ugandans. The introduction of these stoves helps reduce deforestation (saving over 120,000 trees so far) and limit carbon dioxide emissions.

Over 30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions have been avoided so far!

Eritrea Community Boreholes

The local people of Eritrea typically purify water using wood fires. This causes deforestation and carbon dioxide release upon consumption of wood during this purification process. 

The construction of boreholes supported by this project gives these communities access to clean water for drinking and washing, eliminating the need to burn wood to sterilise water, hence saving trees and reducing carbon dioxide release into the atmosphere.

African Biomass Energy Conservation in Malawi

This project promotes improved kitchen practices such as use of less firewood, ensuring firewood is dry before use and use of pot lids during cooking among others.

This reduces exposure to pollutants from smoke during the cooking process, as well as reducing cooking times and ensuring that communities cook safely.

Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project

Rimba Raya is located in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is one of the largest REDD+ peat swamp forest projects in the world, avoiding nearly 130 million tonnes of carbon emissions
