- Extra Details:
- The coronavirus Spike protein (S protein) is a large oligomeric transmembrane protein that mediates coronavirus entry into host cells. It contains S1 and S2 subunits. Spike S1 protein contains a receptor binding domain (RBD) that recognizes a variety of host cell surface receptors including angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2). A DNA sequence encoding the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein (RBD) (YP_009724390.1) (Arg319-Phe541) was expressed with a polyhistidine tag and AviTag at the N-terminus. The protein was site-specifically biotinylated at AviTag with BirA enzyme.
