Specific detection of Mr 83 000 Plakoglobin, "band 5" polypeptide of intercellular adhering junctions (also described as gamma-catenin). Excellent marker for all forms of intercellular adhering junctions, such as: desmosomes of epithelial and myocardial cells (incl. cultured cells); zonulae and fasciae adherentes of epithelia, endothelia of blood vessels and myocardial cells; adherens-type junctions (e.g. lens tissue, pigmented retinal cells, Sertoli cells of testis). Especially useful for studying plakoglobin mutations in cardiomyopathies (e.g. ARVC).

Western blot analysis of human HeLa cell lysate and mouse heart lysate with anti-Plakoglobin antibody. Western blot analysis was performed on 20 ug either HeLa or mouse heart lysate. HeLa cells were lysed in RIPA buffer. The PVDF membrane was blocked with 5% dry milk in PBST for 1 h at RT. The primary antibody anti-Plakoglobin (N-terminus) guinea pig polyclonal (Cat. No. GP57) was diluted in blocking buffer (1:2
000) and incubated for 1 h at RT. The secondary antibody goat anti-guinea pig HRP (Cat. No. 90001) was also diluted in blocking buffer (1:2
