- Extra Details:
- DUX4 (Double Homeobox 4) is a transcription factor implicated in gene regulation during early development. In adult tissues, aberrant expression of DUX4 is associated with toxic gain-of-function effects, particularly in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Recent studies suggest that DUX4 may also contribute to neurodegenerative processes by activating stress response genes, disrupting RNA metabolism, and inducing apoptosis.
