- Cryopreservation or ultra low temperature storage enables multiple stocks of cells to be stored long term and lessens the requirement to have all cell lines in culture at for extended periods of time. Properly cryopreserved cells are an effective a backup stock for important working cell lines. This is critical when dealing with cells of either a limited life span or cells of high value such as a monoclonal antibody cell line.
