- Extra Details:
- C3AR1 encodes the C3a receptor (C3aR1); a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) that binds the complement component C3a; a key anaphylatoxin in the immune system. C3AR1 couples primarily to Gi proteins; leading to inhibition of adenylyl cyclase; Ca²⁺ mobilization; and activation of MAPK and NF-κB signaling. It is expressed on immune cells including neutrophils; monocytes; macrophages; and mast cells; where it mediates chemotaxis; degranulation; cytokine release; and inflammatory responses. C3AR1 plays a critical role in innate immunity; inflammation; and host defense; and dysregulation is implicated in allergic diseases; sepsis; autoimmune disorders; and cancer.
