CTiBabySkin
CTiBabySkin is grown from donated umbilical cord after birth. The umbilical cord is covered in neonatal skin and may also contain some blood and stem cells. The cord is divided into samples of the neonatal surfaces and matured into CTiBabySkin that represents a baby’s skin in the early months.
CTiBabySkin is in line with the desire to reduce animal testing, and is a better alternative in many cases; it avoids translational issues and also uses material that would otherwise be clinical waste, and is in line with the ethics expressed by the MHRA, EU Directive 2010/63/EU and the NIH.
CTiBabySkin is suitable for evaluating all types of products that can come into contact with a newborn’s skin. It is available as a kit; you mature the sample over 28 days to prepare it for your experiments, or your products can also be tested on CTiBabySkin as a service.
Testing outcomes can be defined by histology analysis for structure, IHC for neonatal skin markers, colour analysis, cytokine analysis or molecular biology.
