- Extra Details:
- Anti-streptavidin antibody detects Streptavidin, a 60kD protein purified from the bacterium Streptomyces avidinii. Streptavidin is a homo-tetrameric protein having a very high affinity for biotin (vitamin B7). Streptavidin bound biotin has a dissociation constant (Kd) on the order of about 10^−14 mol/L. Streptavidin and biotin are used extensively in molecular biology and bionanotechnology due to the resistance of streptavidin-biotin complex to organic solvents, denaturants (e.g. guanidinium chloride), detergents (e.g. SDS, Triton), proteolytic enzymes, and extremes of temperature and pH. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Dot Blot, ELISA, Immunoprecipitation and most immunological methods requiring high titer and specificity. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:20,000-1:100,000 Western Blot: 1:2000-1:10,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
