Extra Details:: S100A is composed of one alpha- and one beta-chain, whereas S100B is composed of two beta-chains. S100 is a brain protein normally present in astrocytes, melanocytes, ependymal cells, glial cells and Schwann cells. Langerhans cells in the skin and interdigitating reticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes also stain positively. S100 occurs in tumors of the central nervous system, such as Schwannomas, ependymomas, astrogliomas, gliastomas and almost all melanomas. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin sections, no proteolytic pretreatment required). Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:100. Incubate overnight at 4°C. Dilute immediately before use with PBS. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Human skin Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
