- PSA is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease (kallikrein family) produced by the prostate epithelium, and abundant in seminal fluid. PSA can be detected in the sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma. It is predominantly complexed to a liver-derived serine protease inhibitor, alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT). A higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed to ACT in prostate cancer than in benign prostate hyperplasia. Anti-PSA is useful in the positive identification of metastatic deposits of prostatic origin. Applications: Suitable for use in detection of total PSA antigen in two-site immunoassay. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C before opening. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Allophycocyanin (APC) is light sensitive. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
