- Afadin is an actin filament-binding protein that is involved in cell-cell adherens junctions (AJs) which directly interacts with the alpha herpus virus receptor, a member of the immunoglobulin supergene family. Afadin is colocalized with nectin at cadherin-based cell-cell adherence junctions in various tissues and cell lines. L-Afadin has been isolated as an F-actin-binding protein from rat brain. L-afadin is ubiquitously expressed and specifically localized at zonula adherens (ZA) in epithelial cells and at cell-cell adherens junctions (AJs) in non-epithelial cells. L-afadin has a splice variant, named small intestine absorptive afadin (s-afadin) which is abundantly expressed in neural tissue. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:50 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50. Fixation with PFA or acetone/methanol is recommended. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
