- Phosphacan is a soluble nervous tissue-specific proteoglycan that is thought to regulate axonal outgrowth. It is synthesized by glia. It inds to neurons and to the neural cell adhesion molecules tenascin, N-CAM or NG-CAM. It does not bind to laminin and fibronectin. Phosphacan acts as a potent inhibitor of cell adhesion and neurite outgrowth. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunocytochemistry: 1:10 Immunohistochemistry (4% Paraformaldehyde fixed): 1:1000 Western Blot: Recognizes bands at 250, 190 and 180kD from embryonic rat brain extracts. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Embryonic or early post-natal rat brain Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
