- Peptidoglycan is a polymer of glycopeptide linking N-acetyl or N-glycorylmuramic acid and peptide containing D-amino acid, and is a constituent of the cell wall in most prokaryotes. It is known that this substance is pyrogenic and initiates a variety of physiological activities such as pyrogenicity and reactivity with SLP Reagent 1 body fluid from silkworm. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Dot Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Reported by an independent laboratory to be suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (frozen & paraffin) and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: Competitive or solid phase. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Procedural Note: Although PG is a bacterial surface component, pretreatments, such as treatment with strong acid, for Gram-positive bacteria, or with a detergent, such as SDS, for Gram-negative bacteria, may be necessary to expose the epitopes. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
