- Peptide tyrosine-tyrosine amide (3-36), or PYY(3-36), is a major metabolite of the gut hormone PYY and is produced by the action of dipeptidyl peptidase IV on PYY in the intestinal brush border and in the circulation. PYY(3-36) is a potent inhibitor of food intake in rats and humans, acting selectively on the Y2 receptor to inhibit orexigenic NPY neurons in the arcuate nucleus, thus disinhibiting anorexigenic POMC neurons. The anorexigenic effect of PYY(3-36) is additive to that of the co-secreted gut hormone GLP-1. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Culture Medium: RPMI 1640 with 10% fetal calf serum Hybridoma: SP2mIL6 myeloma cells with spleen cells from NMRI x BALB/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
