Extra Details:: MaxLight™550 is a new Yellow-Green photostable dye conjugate comparable to Alexa Fluor™546, 555, DyLight™549 , Cy3™, TRITC and offers better labeling efficiency, brighter imaging and increased immunodetection. Absorbance (550nm); Emission (575nm); Extinction Coefficient 150,000. The NMDA receptor (NMDAR) is an ionotropic receptor for glutamate (NMDA (N-methyl D-aspartate) is a name of its selective specific agonist). Activation of NMDA receptors results in the opening of an ion channel that is nonselective to cations. This allows flow of Na+ and small amounts of Ca2+ ions into the cell and K+ out of the cell. Calcium flux through NMDARs is thought to play a critical role in synaptic plasticity, a cellular mechanism for learning and memory. The NMDA receptor is distinct in that it is both ligand-gated and voltage-dependent. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects NR2A (~170kD) in rat brain microsomal preparations. Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with N5380-25. Proteins were visualized using an IgG (HRP) goat anti-rabbit and a chemiluminescence detection system. Immunoprecipitation: 4ug immunoprecipitates NR2A from rat brain hippocampus membranes and rat brain microsomal preparations. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
