- Extra Details:
- Nociceptin is the ligand of the opioid receptor-like receptor (OPRL1). It may act as a transmitter in the brain by modulating nociceptive and locomotor behavior. May be involved in neuronal differentiation and development. Secreted protein, expressed predominantly in the spinal cord and brain, being more abundant in the hypothalamus and striatum. Also found in small amounts in ovary. Specific enzymatic cleavages at paired basic residues probably yield other active peptides besides nociceptin. The N-terminal domain contains 6 conserved cysteines thought to be involved in disulfide bonding and/or processing. Belongs to the opioid neuropeptide precursor family. Specificity has been tested by the use of different peptides including enkephalin, dynorphin and endorphin for absorption. May also be used for staining of nerve fibers in guinea pig myenteric plexus. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:1000-1:3000 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:1000-1:3000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
