- Presenilin 1 is a protein found in brain cells. Presenilin 1 has a major influence on the risk of contracting alzheimer's disease. Its function is unknown. However, it may be involved in protein production and trafficking, especially during early development. More than 40 different mutations have been found in the presenilin 1 gene, and these mutations associate with early-onset familial alzheimer's disease. Mutations in presenilin 1 tend to elevate levels of amyloid beta in the blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and brains of those affected by mutations Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunocytochemistry: 1:100-1:300 on COS7, HeLa, 293 and SK-N-MC cell lines. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Positive Controls: COS7, HeLa, 293 and SK-N-MC cell lines. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
