- The metabotropic glutamate receptors belong to a family of G protein-coupled receptors that have been divided into 3 groups based on their sequence homology, putative signal transduction mechanisms, and pharmacologic properties. mGluR2 belongs to the Group II. It is widely expressed in different regions of fetal and the adult brain. Ligand binding to GluR2 induces a conformation change in the receptor, which triggers signaling to modulate the activity of down-stream effectors, mainly via the inhibition of adenylate cyclase activity. Activation of mGluR2 leads to inhibition of glutamate release at the synaptic junction. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 detected mGlur2 in 10ug of rat brain microsomal prep. Immunoprecipitation: 10ug immunoprecipitated mGlur2 in 500ug of rat brain microsomal prep. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
