Extra Details:: Mithramycin was the first of the aureolic acid class of antitumor antibiotics isolated from Streptomyces. Mithramycin inhibits transcription and protein synthesis by non-covalent binding with G-C-rich duplex DNA in the presence of magnesium and zinc ions. Mithramycin has also been shown to induce differentiation of leukemic cells accompanied by an early decrease in c-myc expression and selectively inhibit collagen-1 gene expression in human fibroblasts. Source: Mithramycin from Streptomyces argillaceus. Molecular Weight: ~1085.2 Solubility: Soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Limited water solubility. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
