Extra Details:
Alpha-2 macroglobulin (clotting factor I) is the major protein in the alpha-2 region of rat serum after separation by immunoelectrophoresis. The concentration in normal plasma is about 2.5mg/ml. It is a large polymer and a strong antigen. It forms about one third in the total of the alpha-2 globulins. The protein is isolated by ammonium sulphate precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, gelfiltration and preparative starch block electrophoresis. In the purification the activation of kallikrein is avoided, since it forms an irreversible bond with alpha-2 macroglobulin, thus contaminating the final immunogen. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoelectrophoresis and Double radial immunodiffusion. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
