- Lysozyme is an enzyme that is present in mucosal secretions such as saliva and tears and is involved with non-specific organism defense. It functions by hydrolyzing 1,2-beta linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues such as those found in the walls of various Gram-positive bacteria. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Flow Cytometry, and Immunohistochemistry (paraffin). Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Flow Cytometry: 1:10, 10ul labels 10e6 cells in 100ul, membrane permeabilization is required for this application Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control Tissue: Human Tonsil Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
