Extra Details:
Glutamate receptors are the major excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the central nervous system (CNS). They play critical roles in the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity, in the development of the nervous system and have been suggested to be involved in the neuronal cell death that occurs in several neuropathological conditions. KA2 is a member of the kainate ionotropic receptors. Kainate receptors mediate fast excitatory synaptic transmissions, are rapidly activated and desensitized by glutamate and are mainly permeable to Na+ and K+. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects KA2 from rat brain microsomal preparation. Immunoprecipitation: 4ug immunoprecipitates KA2 from 500ug rabbit brain membrane extract. Immunohistochemistry: 1ug/ml detects KA2 in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded rat brain sections using high energy antigen retrieval. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
