- Integrin alpha 8 is a 170-200kD member of the Integrin family of adhesion molecules. It forms an exclusive noncovalent heterodimer with Integrin beta 1. Integrin alpha 8/ beta 1 promotes both cell adhesion and survival, and is known to bind to fibronectin, LAP-TGF beta 1 and Nephronectin. It is principally expressed in smooth muscle cells. Human alpha 8 is a 1025 amino acid (aa) type I transmembrane glycoprotein. It contains a 974aa extracellular domain (ECD) (aa39-1012) and a 30aa cytoplasmic domain. In the ECD, human alpha 8 shares 90% aa sequence identity with mouse alpha 8 protein. Applications: Suitable for use Flow Cytometry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Flow Cytometry: 2.5ug/10e6 cells using H4 human neuroglioma cell line Immunocytochemistry: 8-25ug/ml using immersion fixed H4 human neuroglioma cell line Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
