- Hexokinase is the first enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, catalyzing the transfer of a phosphoryl group from ATP to glucose to form glucose-6-phosphate and ADP. In mammals, four distinct enzymes (types 1 to 4 hexokinases) have been identified. These enzymes are found in most cells, but there is tissue specificity for the particular type of hexokinase. Hexokinase 2 is found in the skeletal muscle and includes hydrophobic N-terminal sequence capable of targeting the hexokinase to mitochondria. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry and Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:1000 Flow Cytometry: 2-5ug/1x10e6 cells Immunofluorescence (IC): 1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
