Extra Details:: Hexokinase catalyzes the conversion of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate, the first step in glycolysis. Four distinct mammalian hexokinase isoforms, designated as hexokinase I, II, III and IV (glucokinase), have been identified. Hexokinases I, II and III are associated with the outer mitochondrial membrane, and are critical for maintaining an elevated rate of aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells (Warburg Effect) in order to compensate for the increased energy demands associated with the rapid cell growth and proliferation. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
