Extra Details:
Heparin Cofactor II (HCII) is a plasma glycoprotein that is a member of the SERPIN family of proteinase inhibitors. HCII is a relatively specific inhibitor of thrombin and its activity is increased approximately 1000 fold in the presence of heparin. Its activity is also increased in the presence of dermatan sulfate. HCII is a single chain molecule with a mass of 65.6kD. Inhibition of thrombin results in a covalent complex of 102.6kD. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunoelectrophoresis: 2ml plasma or equivalent against 120ml antiserum Double Radial Immunodiffusion: Use a rosette arrangement with 10ml antiserum in 3mm diameter center well and 2ml plasma samples (neat and serially diluted) in 2mm diameter peripheral wells. Single Radial Immunodiffusion: 1% in the gel. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
