Extra Details:
Haptoglobin, also known as Hp, is an acute phase plasma glycoprotein synthesized by the liver in response to infection or inflammation. Haptoglobin binds hemoglobin released by erythrocytes with high affinity, and functions to block the oxidative activity of hemoglobin and prevent renal damage. The haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex is rapidly removed from the circulation by monocytes and macrophages, via the receptor CD163. The haptoglobin genotype has been demonstrated to be an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease in multiple epidemiological studies. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
