- Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) is a serine/threonine kinase that is involved in the regulation of many signaling pathways. To date, 2 isoforms have been identified: GSK3α and GSK3β. Specifically, GSK3β has been shown to play a key inhibitory role in both the insulin and Wnt signaling pathways (Papkoff and Aikawa 1998). It has been suggested that Ser-9 phosphorylation underlies the inhibition of GSK3β by insulin (Sutherland et al., 1993). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000, detects a band of ~46kD in rat cortex cell lysates. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
