- Extra Details:
- Glycogen synthase (GS) is the key enzyme in the regulation of glycogen synthesis. There are two main isoforms of mammalian GS, the muscle isoenzyme and the liver form (1-2). Muscle GS is expressed in several tissues, and liver GS appears to be tissue specific (3). GS is regulated by multi-site phosphorylation and the binding of allosteric ligands. Phosphorylation leads to inactivation of GS, but activity is restored by the binding of allosteric activator glucose-6-phosphate, which converts the enzyme into a better substrate for phosphatase and induces its dephosphorylation and activation (4). Ser641 is one of the most important phosphorylation sites for regulation of glycogen synthase (5). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 Immunoprecipitation: 1:100 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:25 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
