- Ghrelin was identified as the endogenous ligand for the growth hormone (GH) secretagogue receptor 1a. Ghrelin, a GH-releasing acylated peptide, stimulated the release of GH from the anterior pituitary through the GH secretagogue receptor (GHS-R). Ghrelin-producing cells was identified in the gastrointestinal tracts of humans by light and electron microscopic immunohistochemistry. Ghrelin also was found in enteric endocrine cells of rats and humans, it was determined in the rat gastrointestinal tract. Ghrelin probably functions not only in the control of GH secretion, but also in the regulation of diverse processes of the digestive system. It plays a role in the regulation of energy balance. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C before opening. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Allophycocyanin (APC) is light sensitive. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
