- Extra Details:
- This gene encodes a member of the galanin family of neuropeptides. The encoded protein binds galanin receptors 1, 2 and 3 with the highest affinity for galanin receptor 3 and has been implicated in biological processes involving the central nervous system including hypothalamic regulation of metabolism and reproduction. A peptide encoded by a splice variant of this gene, termed alarin, may have vasoactive properties and serve as a marker for neuroblastic tumors. Isoform 2 exhibits potent and dose-dependent vasoconstrictor and anti-edema activity in the cutaneous microvasculature, a physiologic effect which does not appear to be mediated via GALR1 or GALR2. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:64,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
