Extra Details:: Follistatin is a single chain gonadal protein that inhibits Follicle-stimulating hormone release. It binds to and antagonizes Activin, which enhances FSH secretion. There are three known isoforms created by alternative splicing. Follistatin is involved in the development of the embryo. It has inhibitory action on bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs); BMPs induce the ectoderm to become epidermal ectoderm. Inhibition of BMPs allows neuroectoderm to arise from ectoderm, a process which eventually forms the neural plate. Other inhibitors involved in this process are noggin and chordin. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA (Direct): 1ug/ml using 100ul/well. The detection range is 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant human Follistatin. ELISA (Sandwich): 0.25-1ug/ml using 100ul/well. When this antibody is used along with F9060-01 as the capture antibody, the detection range is 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant human Follistatin. Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hFollistatin is 1.5-3.0ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS, 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Country of Origin: USA
