- Human fibrinogen is a glycoprotein produced in the liver. Fibrinogen is a hexamer, consisting of two sets of three subunits (alpha, beta and gamma). Thrombin converts fibrinogen into fibrin, which is then cross-linked by factor XIII to form a blood clot. F4200-04D also recognizes fibrin degradation products (FDPs), substances that are left behind after a blood clot dissolves. This process, called fibrinolysis, is produced by the action of enzymes such as plasmin on fibrin. One FDP is D-dimer, levels of which can be used to diagnose deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. The fibrinolytic system is also closely linked to the control of inflammation. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
