- H-FABP is also known as heart type fatty-acid binding protein, and FABP3. H-FABP belongs to the FABP family, and is a 14kD cytosolic non-enzymatic protein involved in the uptake, transport and metabolism of fatty acids. H-FABP also has a role in cell proliferation and is a candidate tumor suppressor gene in breast cancer. H-FABP was initially purified from the heart muscle, but has since been found to have a widespread tissue distribution, with highest concentration in cardiac and skeletal muscle. H-FABP has been implicated in neurodegenerative disorders, including Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease, and is a specific and sensitive biomarker for acute myocardial infarctions. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
