- Echinocandin B is the major analogue of a family of lipopeptides isolated from several species of Aspergillus, reported in 1974. Echinocandin B is a potent antifungal and acts by inhibition of the synthesis of b(1,3)-D-glucan, an essential component of the cell wall of susceptible fungi. Source: Echinocandin B from Aspergillus sp. Molecular Weight: ~1060.4 Solubility: Soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Limited water solubility. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
