- In the developing cortex, cortical neurons must migrate over long distances to reach the site of their final differentiation. DCX is a cytoplasmic protein which appears to direct neuronal migration by regulating the organization and stability of microtubules. It contains two doublecortin domains, which bind microtubules. In addition, this protein interacts with LIS1, the regulatory gamma subunit of platelet activating factor acetylhydrolase, and this interaction is important to proper microtubule function in the developing cortex. Mutations in the gene encoding DCX are a cause of X-linked lissencephaly. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:32,000 Western Blot: 0.01-0.03ug/ml, observed in mouse fetal Brain lysates on ~45kD bands Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
