- Dopa decarboxylase (DDC), also known as AADC, is a homodimeric vitamin B 6-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the decarboxylation of hydroxylated aromatic amino acids (Accession # P20711). DDC is expressed in the adrenal medulla and catecholaminergic neurons. It catalyzes the final step in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. Defects in DDC are associated with the development of schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease, and hypertension. Human DDC shares 89% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat DDC. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 2ug/ml. Detects human DDC in lysates of Jurkat human acute T cell leukemia cell line KO Validated: Dopa Decarboxylase/DDC is specifically detected in Jurkat human acute T cell leukemia parental cell line but is not detectable in Dopa Decarboxylase/DDC knockout Jurkat cell line. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
